          Sarah Wilmot was born in to sugar plantation owner Colonel Valentine Morris of Piercefield Park of Chepstow and Elizabeth Morris (née Wilmot).

          She had one brother, Valentine Morris, who was born in the West Indies when Wilmot was 3, as well as two sisters, Mary and Caroline. After marrying her cousin, the lawyer Henry Wilmot, Esquire, Mrs. Wilmot took up residence at Farnborough Park, a manor house in Farnborough, Hampshire.

          The couple is known to have spent at least one winter apart in , with Mrs. Wilmot staying in the country with her mother and two sisters while Mr. Wilmot wintered in town.
