          MINNESOTA—If one wanted to locate the definitive book on Hmong history, culture, and spirituality, there’s no need to look any further than a book, partially of the same name: Hmong History, Culture, and Spirituality at a Glance through Speeches, by Dr.

          Yang Dao ($24.29 from Amazon, 426 pp.).

          Its author should know. He served in the Royal Lao Congress as a Senator and is among the key Hmong figures, along with Director General Tougeu Lyfoung, and Touby Lyfoung, who grace the cover of the book along with the doctor.

          All three played an indispensable part in the secret war in Laos.

          The book is comprised of a myriad of speeches and articles, in English, French, and Lao, which he delivered in his capacity as a statesman.
